Fish Fry leaves bad taste for Fins Fans

Ok, I broke down and watched the NFL season opener game last night. Probably wouldn’t have but the Dolphins were playing. Or at least, they started playing. I admit I’m not the greatest football fan out there, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen an uglier 4th quarter. Even the coach couldn’t get his act together. Man, oh, man. Such a disappointment!
It’s been a while since I’ve watched an NFL game because, like, I have a life, you know. I’m not saying football is bad or anything like that, I’m just saying I don’t have much extra time these days so I have to be a bit selective. But this game sure did
make me long for the “good ol’ days” of Marino. No way Shula would have let that non-touchdown go unchallenged. Robert and I did get a kick out of seeing Don Shula in a commercial during the game.

Speaking of Shula, when we were at Disneyworld, our hotel (The Dolphin, no kidding) had added a “Shula’s” since our last visit. It’s a pricey steakhouse owned by our dear Dolphin dad. When I found out about it, I said “Gotta go!” but then I found out that they don’t allow kids. Jeepers, Uncle Don! Your whole life was football – isn’t that all-American like apple pie and, oh – say, maybe - families? Ok, I understand that it’s a hoity-toity high class, high fluentin’ joint. And I understand that sometimes adults just want a little peace and quiet (Believe me, I DO understand that one!) But no way, uh-uh, not Ever will I leave my kids with any strangers at DW! The hotel did have baby sitting services, but I’d never be comfortable using it. Thus, no Shula’s. Ok, so parenting involves sacrifices. I can deal with that. I assure you, the payback is well worth any and all sacrifices. I can't imagine any steak at any restaurant making me feel as good as I do when those precious tiny arms go around my neck and I hear a sweet little voice say "I love you, Mommy." Ah, Heaven!
But during our stay, we did go to International Drive one evening and ate at Dan Marino’s restaurant. I loved the atmosphere. The food was great. When we were met at the door, I told the host that I’d only eat there if he PROMISED me that I could dine with Dan. Oh, well, we had a nice family dinner even without Danny Boy. And with Robert there I certainly wasn’t lacking for handsome scenery and interesting conversation!

Yep, that's an older pic of The Rave. But it's still one of my favs. And it seemed appropriate for the occasion.
